Birthday Party Giveaway: 3 Art Lessons With Caroline!
March 6, 2013 in Birthday Party
“What about the kids’ schooling?”
It’s one of the most common questions we’re asked, and it’s a fair one! Education is very important and people are interested in how we swing it on the road. The answer, of course, is that the whole reason we’re traveling is for our kids’ educational benefit. We school as we go, the basics required by the educational establishment are just the tip of the iceberg!
It’s a common misconception that homeschooling means that parents teach everything themselves. That is almost never the case. Homeschooling parents take responsibility for the educational direction of their children and the choices made about the what, when and how of their schooling, or not, but few and far between are the parents who are qualified to teach every single thing themselves.
Most families “outsource” some aspect of their kids’ education, we are no exception. We outsource lots of things, but one of our very favourites, is art. We’ve always been an “art heavy” family; it’s generations deep on both sides of our gene pool, but when we found out about Caroline, we were quick to add her to our kids’ portfolio of teachers.
Caroline is a traveler, so she understands the challenges unique to our lifestyle, as well as the educational benefit to our kids. She’s also a passionate artist and a gifted teacher. She’s been our kids’ art teacher for going on a year now.
How do we manage lessons? Does she travel with us? Ha! We wish she did!!
Caroline teaches art to lots of kids (several other traveling families that we know of!) via Skype, and she’s fantastic at it.
Caroline has agreed to give away three separate introductory art lessons to three lucky families to celebrate our birthday! We know you’re going to love her as much as we do!

I love these giveaways! Thank you so much. We have been lurking for a while and really, really appreciate the inspiration and dream seeds you’ve planted. Much love to you and yours.
Wow! That is such a great idea! We also are a worldschooling family! I bet my girls would love an art class via Skype!
Hi Sarah, Thanks so much for the encouragement! I’m really glad you’re lurking!! Leave some comments and don’t be a stranger! Where in the world are you?
Bristol, CT, USA for now! I am in my last year of school for Occupational Therapy (yay!); when finished, we are going to convert a bus and take our family on the road! Travel OTs have 13 week assignments, so we are going to crawl through the country and immerse in the educational offerings of each area. Thanks to your blog, we have been inspired to include a global education as well. I’ve already begun talks with my fellow OT compatriots to do an OT service mission to Guatemala.
Wow!! I know where right where Bristol is!! I love your plan to work and travel. Let us know if there is any way we can help you forward!
