I’m very privileged to work with some really fantastic, creative people. Among them is my friend Susan, who’s the creative power behind Real Family Travel Magazine.

 Susan and her family are travelers, like we are. They are currently underway, but for the past year they’ve been based in one of our very favourite places in the world: Mexico. And, they have a bunch of kids (five!) so we really do live in the same world!

She realized that there was a big information gap in the family travel market. There are tons of publications dedicated to family travel in the short term, vacations and small adventures, but almost nothing in the “epic” category. So, she filled it. Real Family Travel Magazine is available on the iPad and also as a PDF download. It is dedicated to big trips, huge adventures and inspiring families to do more than take a two week holiday over school vacations in the summer. I love writing for this magazine because it’s something I am so passionate about in our own lives. REAL travel, with kids, that gets beyond a packaged resort tour is educational like little else and it’s life changing for everyone involved.

So when I wrote and asked Susan if she’d be willing to give away a subscription to the magazine for our birthday, she surprised me by writing back and saying, “No.”
