Birthday Party Giveaway: Ryanhood Gift Packages
March 19, 2013 in Birthday Party
It’s such a weird world, and we meet people in the most unexpected ways.
We met Ryan and Abigail Green after we wrote to them to confess that we’d pirated their music. Yep. We saw Ryan and his friend Cameron, who make up one of our favourite bands, Ryanhood, playing on the street in Boston years ago (like, ten years ago!) and we went straight home and downloaded their music. We’re terrible people. (We did throw some money in their open guitar case, does that make it better?)
So, about six months before we started traveling we heard their song, Gardens and Graves, in a way that we hadn’t before. Has that ever happened to you? All of a sudden you hear something you’ve heard a thousand times, but all of a sudden it fits in a way that it never has? Well, that’s what happened to us.
I wrote to the guys and confessed our sins and asked them what would be involved in buying the rights to their song for our official theme song for the Edventure Project. We were shocked when they just gave it to us. We were more shocked when they agreed to come to our blast off party and play it live for us and for our friends. It was a beautiful moment.
Since then, Ryan and Abigail have become great friends. They’ve come and camped out with us in our little cottage on Cape Cod and we crashed their party in Arizona a couple of years ago. Abigail and I have much in common on the Mama front, and Ryan has given more than one music lesson in to our kiddos. We’ve purchased every scrap of their music, in multiple copies to give away, and hosted music escapades for our friends as well as attending every concert we can, with religious zeal. Hopefully that’s making up for the bad karma we started out with!!
They’re giving away 3 Ryanhood gift packs, including CDs and posters, as well as three copies of Ryan’s new solo project, “The Great Collision.” If I could hug them in person, I’d do it gladly!
