If you visit Rantepao, in the highlands of South Sulawesi, in Tana Toraja, you will want to hire a local guide for at least a day or two.

There are so many interesting things to see and learn about in Tana Toraja and so many cultural quirks that you’ll miss altogether without someone to translate them for you.

We’d like to heartily recommend our friend Nicholas Paraba.

He makes his living as a tour guide in Rantepao and is very experienced. He speaks very good English, and he’s very good at explaining things so that even the youngest members of the family will understand. He’s a father of five, so he understands the family dynamic and is flexible for the needs of the children.

When we asked him how you could contact him, he gave us his phone number to share with you, and also his daughters email address. She is in university in Makassar, but will call and pass along your contact to her dad.

We’d love it if you get to spend a few days with our friend. Please don’t forget to tell him that we sent you!
