High Peak Station: Day 2: In which we stalk: Photo Essay

May 15, 2013 in New Zealand, Oceania, Travelogue

Dick and I could not be having any more fun.

He says he doesn’t care if he shoots anything or not and, in spite of his enthusiasm for stalking, I believe him.

We’re both so delighted to be here, to be together, and to be doing something fantastic. We’re falling in love with the Guild Family. Simon’s whole philosophy on farming, life, sustainability, hunting, family and legacies falls into lock step with our own in a way that’s just eerie. You know when you meet those people who could have been life long friends you have that much in common? It’s like that.

Our first day on High Peak was about getting oriented. On the second day, the real hunting began. The guys were stoically excited. I was firmly determined to just stay the heck out of the way.

I took some pictures for you:

This is Craig Smith (Smithy) he takes pictures, and paints, and shoots, and toured with rock bands, and backpacked hither and yon. He’s basically Dick’s NZ twin.
