Wombat in the Woolshed: Bush dance in Drysdale
October 5, 2013 in New Zealand, Oceania
I can’t imagine a better “last Saturday night” than this…
We’ve loved every minute in Drysdale. It’s the quintessential small town and the community has been more than welcoming. It’s one of the most “homey” places we’ve had the privilege to call home for a little while.
Tonight we walked into the village to the community center to hear a homespun band made up of a father and his children: Wombat in the Woolshed, play and call a bush dance. It’s a bit like a barn dance, or a square dance in North America; only with an Aussie twist. We laughed, we danced, we’ll remember it as part of Australia forever! Best of all, our favourite Rickards went with us!
Here’s an excerpt for you… the lady Elisha is dancing with, that’s Jacqui and baby Adeline.
You danced, we laughed, looks like lots of fun!
Loved the video! I love barn dances and this sounds just an awesome Australian version! Have a great road trip!
