When we found ourselves out west and headed north into Canada, in the fall of 2011, to visit my brother in the Discovery Islands of Canada, we got an email from Bianca Gignac asking if she could interview us about our travels in Italy for her website, Italian Fix. Of course we agreed, and before long an interview query turned into an invitation to dinner, and then to spend the night with her family on Vancouver Island, in BC.

Bianca fell in love with Italy as a young, solo traveler, and fell in love with her Italian husband in the process. Years later, their home is a beautiful blend of the things we love best about Italy and Canada, kept lively by a sparkly curly haired little girl growing up with a foot in both worlds. It was an evening of food and hospitality that spoke to the Gignac family’s love for their heritage and passion for travel. I’ve looked for every opportunity to support Bianca’s Italian Fix and would love it if you’d take a look at my friend’s site.
