Mezcal factory tour

The owner of our campground in Oaxaca, Mexico owns and operates the Scorpion Mezcal factory and invited us along on a tour. Mezcal is a liquor, similar to tequila in that it’s made by distilling juice from the agave plant. However, where tequila can only use one type of agave, mezcal can be made of other types, so the flavors can vary greatly, much like wine.
